Littlehampton 0 – 24 Norfolk Arms

28th October 2014

With last week’s result  still in  mind  and confidence high Littlehampton welcomed 7th placed Norfolk Arms to the Academy pitch.

With a long blast of his whistle the Ref signals the start of the game but from the off Littlehampton seem nervous, which Norfolk Arms pick up on quickly and immediately set about  probing their hosts defensive lines looking for the slightest of gaps and within five minutes find such a gap. Charging towards the Littlehampton  line  using their pace the  soon touch down in the corner … only to be denied  by a wayward foot  in touch.

The next 20 minutes sees both teams making and losing ground with good effort but cancelling  each other out in every department until Norfolk Arms finally get the upper hand and cross for the opening score after  spending five  minutes camped on their host’s try line but being kept at bay by some solid tackling. Adding the conversion to make it 0-7

Another ten minutes of mixed fortunes for both teams follows until with five minutes to go until halftime Norfolk Arms  seem to find another gear and go all out for another score and are soon rewarded with there second converted try

The  Half comes to a close after  the visitors  are awarded a penalty , but miss the kick.

The second half starts much as the  first  ended, with Norfolk Arms on the front foot. The pressure soon told  and  Littlehampton go down to 14 men after Gary Keirle picks up a yellow card, But despite having the  extra man for ten minutes Norfolk Arms  fail to score even though they  make good ground at every turn.

Littlehampton  still trying to get into the game  try to get into try to attack but are met with a wall of  red across the field that they just cannot break through.

The  final ten minutes goes all the way of the visitors with a further try from a well worked passage of play  to go 0-19  ahead  which soon  turned to 0-24 when  Littlehampton’s day was summed up when they finally get a good attack going but  have  a pass intercepted and run back for  Norfolk’s fourth try.

The final score sees  Littlehampton slip to fourth in the table with  Norfolk Arms  moving up to 5th.
